Canyon on Tishinka

Nailya Akhmedova diploma project, 2022

The foundation of the project is based on an exercise in the form of a composition of stones of various geometric shapes and sculptural polygonal landscape. As the idea developed and was implemented on the chosen urban site, it transformed into a monolithic volume, divided into galleries resembling a landscape.

The inner part of the structure is an excavated labyrinth. Public spaces are formed by corridors with sloping walls, which make up the main part of the building. They create routes both inside themselves and around small courtyards.

The outer perimeter of the building fits into the low-rise context and merges with the city through the facade material.

From a distance, visitors can see brick facades with a familiar grid of windows, but as they walk further, they will encounter a structure unlike anything in the urban space.

The main goals of the project are to return human scale to the place and create an amazing and new urban environment.
